The Queen Anne’s County Library is committed to ensuring accessibility to our online resources for all people. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Queen Anne’s County Library takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of the QACL Website:

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

The QACL Website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content may not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Limitations and alternatives

Known limitations for the QACL Website:

  1. Third-party websites and databases: Our Catalog, Events, FAQs, Meeting Room Reservations, and other library resources are hosted by external sources. We cannot be responsible for the accessibility of external websites. Please contact us at if you encounter an accessibility issue with any of our websites.

  2. Closed Captioning on videos: Some longer videos may not have closed captioning. We will provide a transcript of the video in these cases.

  3. Portable Document Format (PDF) documents: Some older PDFs may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We are reviewing older non-HTML documents for accessibility. Please contact us if you encounter an accessibility issue with any of our PDF documents.

  4. Some images: Occasionally some images may be uploaded without alternative text added. If you find an image without alternate text, please contact us and we will correct the problem.
