Collection Development Policy– Provides a framework for the growth and development of collections in support of the library’s mission to “educate and enrich our community through free access to resources”.
Customer Use of Library Space Policy – The Board of the Queen Anne’s County Library has established rules of conduct that all customers must adhere to when in a library branch or on library property. These rules serve to make the library a welcoming and safe place for customers and to maintain a safe workplace for staff.
Meeting Room Policy - Queen Anne’s County Library has several meeting rooms available for public use at both Centreville and Kent Island branches. These rooms are primarily for cultural, civic, educational, and intellectual purposes that support the library’s mission. The rooms may not be used for purely social purposes, which include but are not limited to parties or entertainment. The meeting rooms will be made available on an equitable basis, regardless of the beliefs or affiliations of individuals or groups requesting their use.
E-Commerce Policy – The Queen Anne’s County Library provides an e-commerce service that enables library users to pay overdue fines and/or lost book fees via the library’s website. This new service was added to make paying fees more convenient and confidential for library users.
Fax Policy – The Library is pleased to provide fax service to the general public. Anyone needing fax service will be accommodated as soon as possible, but library services and operations will take priority.
Privacy Policy – Queen Anne’s County Library is committed to protecting the privacy of our customers, donors and other contacts. In accordance with the American Library Association’s Code of Ethics: “We protect each library user’s right to privacy and confidentiality with respect to information sought or received and resources consulted, borrowed, acquired, or transmitted.”
MakerSpace/3D Print Policy - The MakerSpace offers an environment for creativity, curiosity, and innovation. All equipment is on a first-come, first-served basis. The MakerSpace is a design, craft, and fabrication center that focuses on art and education. It is not a site for manufacturing or large-scale production services. Use of MakerSpace equipment is free. However, there may be a charge based on the materials used.
Photo Release Policy - Smile! Queen Anne’s County Library reserves the right to utilize photographs or videos taken at the library for publicity purposes in printed materials and online. All library patrons consent to the use of their photo or video image taken at the library during library events, unless they specifically inform staff of an objection to such use. No names will be used in conjunction with photos without express written consent.
Display Spaces Policy – The Queen Anne’s County Library provides the opportunity for Library and community postings as part of our vision to be a vibrant and innovative center for an informed, educated, and diverse community. Library display spaces are available first for Library purposes. When designated spaces within Library branches are not in use for Library purposes, space may be made available for non-library individuals or groups. Social Media Policy – The Queen Anne’s County Library uses various online social media services in order to provide a public forum for sharing information, ideas, and opinions about library resources, services and programs. These forums are intended to create a welcoming and inviting space where library users can interact with library staff and other library users, while finding useful and entertaining information related to the library.
Internet Policy - The Queen Anne’s County Free Library offers free access to the Internet on library computers and via a wireless network for use with personal equipment. The following operating guidelines have been established to make your use of library Internet services positive and secure.
