Our catalog connects you with collections from all of the public libraries on the Eastern Shore. If the item you are looking for is not available through the Eastern Shore Regional Library System, you may place a request through the MARINA system.
To place a request, please follow the instructions below or ask a Librarian for assistance. You may also contact the Interlibrary Loan Clerk at cenill@qaclibrary.org for further assistance and information.
MARINA is a statewide catalog system that connects all Public Libraries within the State of Maryland. This system is run through the Maryland Interlibrary Loan Organization (MILO) within the Enoch Pratt Free Library.
How To Use MARINA: You will need your library card number if you would like to request an item through MARINA. To log in, enter your library card number (no spaces). Once you are logged in, you may either use the simple search function or the advanced search, (found in the upper right corner of the screen). Once you’ve located your item, the system will show if it is requestable. If so, you will be able to select your pickup location under “Delivery info” and your preferred format under “Request info”. Allow time for requests to be delivered, as some may take a week or more for delivery. If you cannot find the item you are looking for, you may want to request it through OCLC.
OCLC, or the Online Computer Library Center, is the system used to request items from outside the state and from academic institutions, such as universities. OCLC also maintains the website WorldCat, which is the world’s largest online public access catalog.
How to Use OCLC: While in MARINA, under the “My Account” tab, there is a section where you may request an item. This request tab is only used for requesting through OCLC. The search functions allow for a lot of information to be entered, but not all fields are required. The more you complete, the more accurate the search will be. Once the request is complete, MILO will send it through a list of available lender libraries. **Please leave the search field “maximum cost” empty** Because the items sent through OCLC are from out-of-state and academic libraries, return policies are very strict. Due dates are non-negotiable and any renewals requested must be made 2 weeks before the item’s due date. Failure to return items by the due date could result in fines on your account or blocks from making future OCLC requests. Any account with a balance of $25 or more will be blocked from requesting OCLC items.
